What do I need to bring with me to board the ferry?

Updated this week

Apart from your ticket in a printed or e-ticket format, you should always have your ID card, passport, or any other identity document with you, especially on international ferry routes. For domestic routes, passports or other government-issued IDs are typically not required for check-in or boarding; your e-ticket often suffices. For international travel, in addition to carrying your passport, you may need a Visa depending on your destination and duration of stay. Always check your destination's official government website and our blog for further information. You may be asked to present the document to the ferry crew or port authority to confirm that you are the legal ticket holder.

For domestic ferry routes, documentation requirements are more flexible. Passengers generally do not need to present passports or similar IDs for boarding; the e-ticket (either printed or digital) is typically sufficient. Additionally, concerns about surname formatting on tickets are usually minor; as long as the key details align correctly, no issues should arise. However, carrying a secondary form of identification like a driver’s license can still be beneficial in unforeseen situations.

If you have purchased discounted ferry tickets, you will be required to provide a document confirming that you are eligible for the specific discount (e.g. student card, ISIC card, etc.). For more information please visit our Discounts page.
